What remains of Sulukule today are only a few thausend scattered romani people and the memory of a place which used to be filled with dance and music.

Astrid Heubrandtners Film begleitet die letzten 3 Jahre des Kampfes der Menschen einer Kultur- und Wohnstätte gegen übermächtige Gegner und beschreibt den aussichtslosen Kampf der Bewohner der ältesten Roma-Siedlung Europas in Istanbul gegen Grundstücksspekulanten und ethnische Ausgrenzung. Von Sulukule bleiben heute nur noch einige Tausend in alle Richtungen versprengter entwurzelter Roma und die Erinnerung an einen Ort, der früher von Tanz und Musik erfüllt war.
